Each of us has our own individual way of receiving and processing information. Although there are many theories, based on our experience, we decided to create a simple and practical tool that we have experience with &#8211; <strong>the VAK test<\/strong>. This simple test will help you quickly find out which learning style you prefer.<\/p><p dir=\"ltr\">VAK was developed in 1920 by a group of psychologists and describes the most common ways of learning and their combinations: visual, auditory and kinaesthetic.<\/p><p dir=\"ltr\">Through the VAK test, you will find out which style is dominant in you and in what proportion to the other two. You can have one dominant learner style, or even two of them. You might find that different styles suit you best for different tasks. There is no perfect style.<\/p><p dir=\"ltr\">The goal is to find out how to approach learning so that it is as effective as possible for you. We believe that the results of the test will help you find the most effective way for you to study, and thus reach your desired goal faster.<\/p><br \/><p class=\"ql-align-justify\"><span style=\"color:#424242;\"><\/span><\/p><\/p><\/section><section><h2><p dir=\"ltr\">Visual Learner<\/p><\/h2><p><p>&nbsp;<\/p><p dir=\"ltr\">If you have a strong preference for Visual (V) learning, you should use some or all of the following:<\/p><p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>INTAKE (To take in the information, use)<\/strong><\/p><ul dir=\"ltr\"><li>underlining<\/li><li>different colors<\/li><li>highlighters<\/li><li>symbols<\/li><li>flow chats, charts, graphs<\/li><li>pictures, videos, posters slides<\/li><li>different spatial arrangements on the page<\/li><li>white space<\/li><li>textbooks with diagrams, pictures<\/li><li>lecturers who use gestures and picturesque language<\/li><\/ul><p dir=\"ltr\">&nbsp;<\/p><p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>SWOT (Study without tears)<\/strong><\/p><p>To make a learnable package<\/p><ul dir=\"ltr\"><li>Convert your lecture notes into a learnable package by editing them down by 2\/3rds<\/li><li>take photos of your notes<\/li><li>Use all techniques above to do this<\/li><li>Reconstruct the images in different ways &ndash; try different spatial arrangements<\/li><li>Redraw your pages from memory<\/li><li>Replace words with symbols or initials<\/li><li>Look at your pages&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul><p>&nbsp;<\/p><p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>OUTPUT (To perform well in the examination)<\/strong><\/p><ul dir=\"ltr\"><li>Recall the photos of your notes<\/li><li>Draw &ndash; use diagrams where appropriate<\/li><li>Write exam answers<\/li><li>Practice turning your visuals back into words<\/li><li>You are holistic rather then reductionist in your approach.<\/li><li>You want to see the whole picture<\/li><li>Visual learners do not like handouts, words, lectures, textbooks or assessments that depend on words, syntax or grammar<\/li><\/ul><br \/><\/p><\/section><section><h3>Aural Learner<\/h3><p><p>&nbsp;If you have a&nbsp;strong preference for learning by Aural methods (A = hearing) you should use some or all of the following:<\/p><p><strong>INTAKE (To take in information)<\/strong><\/p><ul><li>attend lectures<\/li><li>attend tutorials&nbsp;<\/li><li>discuss topics with other students<\/li><li>discuss topics with your lecturers<\/li><li>explain new ideas to other people<\/li><li>use a tape recorder to remember any interesting examples, stores, jokes..<\/li><li>describe the overheads, pictures and other visuals to somebody who was not there<\/li><li>leave space in your lecture notes for later recall and &acute;filling&acute;&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul><p>&nbsp;<\/p><p><strong>SWOT (Study without tears)<\/strong><\/p><p>To make a learnable package:<br \/><\/p><ul><li>Convert your lecture notes into a learnable package by editing them down by about 2\/3rds; expand your notes by talking with others and collecting notes from the text book.<\/li><li>Put your summarized notes onto tapes and listen to them.<\/li><li>Ask others to hear listen to you explain a topic.<\/li><li>Read your notes to another aural person.<\/li><\/ul><p>&nbsp;<\/p><p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>OUTPUT (To perform well in the examination)<\/strong><\/p><ul dir=\"ltr\"><li>Talk with the examiner<\/li><li>Listen to your voices and write them down<\/li><li>Spend time in quite places recalling the ideas<\/li><li>Practice writing answers to old exam questions<\/li><li>Speak your answers out loud<\/li><li>You would prefer to have all of this page explained to you.<\/li><li>The written words are not as valuable as those you hear<\/li><li>You will probably go and tell somebody about this<\/li><\/ul><br \/><br \/><\/p><\/section><section><h3><p dir=\"ltr\">Kinesthetic Learner<\/p><\/h3><p><p>&nbsp;<\/p><p dir=\"ltr\">&nbsp;If you have a strong preference for Kinesthetic (doing) learning you should use some or all of the following:<\/p><p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>INTAKE (to take in the information, use)<\/strong><\/p><ul dir=\"ltr\"><li>all your senses &ndash; sight, touch, taste, smell, hearing..<\/li><li>laboratories, field trips, field tours<\/li><li>examples of principles, lecturers who give real- life examples<\/li><li>applications, hands &ndash; on approaches (computing)<\/li><li>trial and error<\/li><li>collections of types of rock, plants, shells, grasses..<\/li><li>exhibits, samples, photographs<\/li><li>recipes &ndash; solutions to problems<\/li><li>previous exam papers<\/li><\/ul><br \/><p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>SWOT (study without tears)<\/strong><\/p><p>To make a learnable package:<\/p><ul dir=\"ltr\"><li>Convert your lecture notes into a learnable package by editing them down by 2\/3rds<\/li><li>Your lecture notes may be poor because the topic was not concrete or relevant<\/li><li>You will remember the real things that happened<\/li><li>Put plenty of examples into your summary.
